ICity New Cairo is a large planned city situated south of Cairo, Egypt. The city is being developed by Emaar Misr, a subsidiary of Dubai-based Emaar Properties. It is planned to be the first master-planned compound in Egypt and is estimated to cost approximately USD$3.6 billion.
The project was officially unveiled in November 2013 and construction began shortly thereafter. The project will include a range of residential, commercial, retail, and recreational areas. The residential area of the compound will consist of villas and townhouses, while commercial areas will include a business park and a shopping mall.
The city will have its own schools, universities, hospitals, and other amenities. It will also have access to a network of roads and public transportation systems, such as a Metro line connecting it to the rest of Cairo. The Metro line is expected to be completed by 2022.
The centerpiece of iCity New Cairo will be a large urban park featuring attractions and activities for the whole family. Plans are also in place to create a green open space and a modern waterfront, with additional leisure and recreational activities.
